INTERMEDIATE STONESETTING - BEZEL SETTING
If you're looking to grow and learn a little more in your silversmithing experience, this is the perfect class for you.
We will be taking a detailed look at bezel setting a pendant - a method of setting flat backed stones in bands of silver for a clean and classic look. This process will include measuring your bezel for an optimum fit, soldering your bezel to a backplate, sawing sterling sheet, filing, fitting a bail into your piece, texturizing, finishing, and setting your stone. All supplies are included. Prerequisites of "Intro to Silversmithing" AND "Sawing - Brass Statement Earrings" with Alexa Suess are required. A variety of stones will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own cabochon (flat-backed stone) provided it is a rounded shape between 10-20mm. A variety of chains will be available to purchase from but you may bring your own as well.
We are currently running at half capacity for all workshops and lectures to increase the opportunity for social distancing. You will be required to wear a mask throughout the duration of this class. Please note that you may end up in close quarters with another person should you have to pass one another in our narrow space. If you are uncomfortable with any of the above, PLEASE refrain from signing up. There will be more opportunities to learn! We promise!
Since we will be working with hand tools and treatment chemicals, please wear clothes you wouldn't mind getting dirty.
This will be an approx 4 hour workshop. Workshop location: Orenda, 29 Front St Greenport, NY 11944
