Campo Del Cielo Meteorite Necklace
Wear a piece of the universe around your neck.
This piece of the Campo Del Cielo Meteorite is estimated to be 4.5 billion years old.
The Campo crater was first found in the early 1500s by the Wichí peoples who claimed that the mass had fallen from the sky in a place they called Piguem Nonralta which translates to Campo del Cielo or "Field of Heaven.” Rubin de Celis rediscovered it in 1783 and after clearing the debris around it, estimated its mass as 15 tonnes. Samples were sent to the Royal Society of London and found to contain 90% iron and 10% nickel. It was then assigned a meteoritic origin.
