INTRO TO STONESETTING - CLAW SETTING
Did you take our Intro to Silversmithing class? Are you hungry to learn more?
In this workshop, we will be exploring claw setting a pendant - a method of setting stones in a cage of sterling wire for a minimalist look. This process will include measuring your stone for an optimum fit, soldering your wire cage form, measuring your claws, adding a bail, and setting your stone. All supplies are included. Prerequisite of "Intro to Silversmithing - Stacking Rings OR Intro to Silversmithing - Boho Bangles" with Alexa Suess is required. A variety of stones will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own cabochon (flat or mostly flat-backed stone) between 10-30mm. A variety of chains will be available to purchase but you may bring your own as well.
We are currently running at half capacity for all workshops and lectures to increase the opportunity for social distancing. You will be required to wear a mask throughout the duration of this class. Please note that you may end up in close quarters with another person should you have to pass one another in our narrow space. If you are uncomfortable with any of the above, PLEASE refrain from signing up. There will be more opportunities to learn! We promise!
Since we will be working with hand tools and treatment chemicals, please wear clothes you wouldn't mind getting dirty.
This will be an approx 3 hour workshop. Workshop location: Orenda, 29 Front St Greenport, NY 11944
