INTRO TO SILVERSMITHING - STACKING RINGS
Delve into the complex art of silversmithing while having fun and learning a new skill!
In this workshop, we'll learn how to make three sterling silver stacking rings that you can customize however you wish. GIA Certified jeweler Alexa Suess will show you how to cut and file sterling silver, learn the nuances of soldering and textured forging, and explore the many ways to treat, polish, mattify, oxidize and otherwise finish the rings to your liking. Rings are a great way to begin exploring sizing and unisex jewelry styling. All supplies are included and no previous metalsmithing skills are necessary. This class is a prerequisite to Intro to Stonesetting - Claw Setting and Intermediate Stonesetting - Bezel Setting.
We are currently running at half capacity for all workshops and lectures to increase the opportunity for social distancing. You will be required to wear a mask throughout the duration of this class. Please note that you may end up in close quarters with another person should you have to pass one another in our narrow space. If you are uncomfortable with any of the above, PLEASE refrain from signing up. There will be more opportunities to learn! We promise!
Since we will be working with hand tools and treatment chemicals, please wear clothes you wouldn't mind getting dirty.
This will be an approx 2.5 hour workshop. Workshop location: Orenda, 29 Front St Greenport, NY 11944
